Discount Travel Retirement

Retirement years should be some of the best years of your life. You can enjoy a freedom you have never had before. Retirement is the time that many seniors decide to travel. There are ways to stretch your travel dollar with discounts that make retirement travel affordable.

Step 1Travel on an all-expense paid cruise ship. Seniors 55+ can often find discounts from Carnival Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, or Princess Cruises. Food and lodging are taken care of while you are transported to many locations that allow you to sight-see and explore the world.

Step 2Visit National Parks. Once you reach age 62, there are discounts to entice you to visit our country’s National parks. For ten dollars, seniors can buy a life-time pass that allows them to enter and use Federal recreation sites. The senior holding the pass can gain access in a non-commercial vehicle with three other adults. This same pass also provides a 50% discount on amenity fees charged for camping, launching boats, and swimming. This pass is free if you are disabled.

Step 3Being a member to AARP will give you discount privileges to many facilities, including hotels and restaurants. If you are a member, ask before you pay. Of course, you will get many of these same benefits if you are a member of AAA.

Step 4Travel by train. if you are 62+, you can receive a 15% discount on the lowest rail fare available on Amtrak. There are a few limitations, so visit their website. If you are only 60 or 61, you can receive a 10% discount. Traveling by train is relaxing and fun.

Step 5Buy a small RV that you can hook up to your car. Travel will only cost you rental spaces for the night and gas. You would have purchased food anyway and with an RV, you can “cook at home.”
